Hey there everyone! Let’s have a little fun with funnel cake! Funnel cake is one of my favorites and so I am here to share this recipe with you.  Mom and I live pretty close to Six Flags and always wish we could just drive over there and grab a funnel cake, but I guess you have to pay to get in even just for dessert!

Based on the photos I’m sharing along with the recipe – I have no doubt you are going to make this funnel cake! The great thing is you can top it with anything.  If you make this on your “cheat day” you can add butter and then some confectioner’s sugar, or cinnamon and sugar, or maybe some ice cream, caramel and whipped cream! Go all out and try a few different options. If you are making them for the whole family – top them all a different way and then share so you can all decide which one if your favorite for the next time!

Turns out the funnel cake really isn’t that hard to make. Follow these simple instructions and you can make a yummy treat for you and your family!

Ingredients:

  • 8 cups vegetable oil for frying
  • 1-1/2 cups milk
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup confectioners’ sugar

Directions:

  1. In a deep-fryer, or heavy skillet, heat oil to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
  2. As you wait for your oil to heat up, in a large bowl beat the milk and eggs together.
  3. Combine flour, baking powder, cinnamon and salt.
  4. Stir into the egg mixture until smooth.
  5. While covering the funnel hole with one hand, pour in 1 cup of batter. Start from the center in a swirling motion to make a 6 or 7 inch round.
  6. Fry on both sides until golden brown.
  7. Remove and drain on paper towels.
  8. Sprinkle with confectioners’ sugar and serve warm.
